The 2018 National Property Awards has honoured 54 outstanding developers and projects in Việt Nam. Phú Mỹ Hưng Development Corporation and its Phú Mỹ Hung City Centre won the awards for, being named most prestigious developer and best urban area project.
The awards, given away by the Việt Nam National Real Estate Association and the Management Agency for Housing and Real Estate under the Ministry of Construction, are the most esteemed awards in the country for developers who have contributed to the property market.

For 25 years the company has firmly stuck to executing the plans it had drawn up in the initial days.
A modern urban area has been developed on what used to be marshland.
More than 20 years ago an ‘urban area’ was a new concept in Việt Nam. Questions were asked in the community at that time when an investor spent over US$2 million to invite leading companies in the area of urban development to make plans to develop an urban area on marshland.
Skidmore, Owings & Merill (America) were selected to develop the plan for building Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre, with sustainable development and resident’s benefit being the centre of all activities.
Taking advantage of the rivers in the country’s southern region, the planners considered using existing green areas and rivers to build parks, and golf and amusement areas. The houses were built among them.
Before these two national awards, Phú Mỹ Hưng has been honored The American Progressive Architecture Citation (1995), The American Institute of Architecture honor award for best urban design (1997).
Decision 749/TTG issued by the Government in 1994 on setting the direction for the development of South Sài Gòn mentioned the new urban area as a part of HCM City. It was a comprehensive area with financial and trade services, industry, science, culture, education, housing and entertainment. The new urban area has given a push to the development of HCM City’s southern and south-eastern areas.
Green coverage of Phu My Hung reached the highest rate of 8.9m2/ person.
In the last 25 years Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre has fulfilled its role by contributing to the country’s modernisation and urbanisation.
The most important thing that it has done is to totally change the social welfare situation of South Sài Gòn. From being a marsh, South Sài Gòn has now changed out of sight because of the new urban area.
South Sài Gòn whose heart is Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre now has comprehensively developed infrastructure. Many apartments, office buildings, recreational services, convention and exhibition centre, etc. have been built here. Local residents can enjoy a plethora of services in the city centre.
The value of property in the areas has also got a big boost.
Multinational culture, unique to Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre
In the new urban area, out of an area of 484ha, the developer used only 26 per cent for construction, leaving the rest for infrastructure, services and green areas.
Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre now has 800 stores, thousands of companies, dozens of international and local banks, over 20 domestic and foreign schools, hospitals, and cinemas. Many famous brand names have arrived here.
This is the only new urban area in Việt Nam where over 50 per cent of the residents are foreigners.
Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre has become an ideal living area that meets international standards. It was named the first model of urban area by the Ministry of Construction 10 years ago.
25 years on, Phú Mỹ Hưng Development Corporation continues to develop its Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre.
Talking about the future, Phú Mỹ Hưng Development Corporation said it would continue to upgrade the infrastructure and amenities to offer residents a better deal.
